Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions

for Busy Corner Books
(inclusive of Writing Well and Arclight™)

These Terms & Conditions govern the provision of services by Busy Corner Books. By booking a service, purchasing a programme, or engaging consultancy work, you agree to these Terms.

1. Services

Busy Corner Books provides creative writing consultancy, mentoring, workshops, courses, and related professional services.

Services may be delivered in person or online, within or outside the United Kingdom.

All services are delivered in a professional educational and developmental capacity. They do not constitute counselling, psychotherapy, medical advice, legal advice, psychiatric care, or crisis intervention.

While reflective writing activities may feel personally meaningful or cathartic, they are not therapy.

2. Booking and Payment

A booking is confirmed when:

  • Payment has been received; or

  • A written agreement or invoice has been issued and accepted.

For organisations, payment terms will be specified in the relevant agreement or invoice.

Busy Corner Books reserves the right to decline or withdraw services where appropriate.

3. Cancellations and Refunds

Cancellations and refunds are governed by the separate Refund & Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

By confirming a booking, you agree to those terms.

4. Professional Boundaries

Services are structured for creative and professional development.

Participants remain responsible for their own wellbeing, decisions, and outcomes.

If a participant is experiencing significant mental health distress, appropriate local professional support should be sought.

5. International Services

Where services are delivered outside the United Kingdom:

  • The participant or contracting organisation is responsible for ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations.

  • Busy Corner Books accepts no responsibility for differences in regulatory standards in other jurisdictions.

  • Any applicable taxes, currency conversion fees, duties, or banking charges are the responsibility of the client.

6. Confidentiality

Personal information shared during services is treated with discretion.

Confidentiality may be limited where:

  • There is a risk of serious harm to the participant or others;

  • Disclosure is required by law.

Full details are set out in the Privacy and Confidentiality Policy.

7. Intellectual Property

All materials, frameworks, written content, exercises, course materials, and resources remain the intellectual property of Busy Corner Books unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Materials may not be copied, reproduced, adapted, distributed, or delivered by others without prior written permission.

Arclight™ is a protected trademark and may not be used without authorisation.

Unauthorised use may result in legal action.

(Removed personal explanation about family legacy and doctoral research — that belongs elsewhere, not in legal enforcement language.)

8. Limitation of Liability

Busy Corner Books is not liable for:

  • Decisions made by participants following services;

  • Indirect or consequential loss;

  • Circumstances outside reasonable control.

Total liability is limited to the fee paid for the relevant service.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where it cannot lawfully be excluded under UK law.

(Important legal addition.)

9. Website Use

Website content is provided for general information purposes only.

While reasonable efforts are made to ensure accuracy, no guarantees are made regarding completeness or suitability for specific purposes.

10. Governing Law & International Services

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Services may be provided internationally. Where a client resides outside England and Wales, any mandatory consumer protection rights applicable in that jurisdiction will apply in addition to these Terms where required by law.

Unless otherwise required by mandatory local law, any dispute arising in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
