Qualifications & Relevant Training

Paula Anne Thwaite's work draws on over twenty-five years of professional experience in counselling, psychotherapy-informed practice, reflective writing, therapeutic metaphor, publishing, spiritual accompaniment, group facilitation, ethical communication, and person-centred reflective process.

Relevant qualifications, training and professional experience include:

  • MA Creative Writing

  • Doctorate of Ministry began studies 2025, St Mary's University, Twickenham

  • Counselling and psychotherapy training and experience

  • Clinical hypnotherapy and NLP training, used here only as part of Paula's wider understanding of communication structure, language patterns, non-verbal communication, listening, rapport, and reflective process

  • Spiritual Direction / spiritual accompaniment training

  • Lay ministry training

  • Writing mentoring, author and writer support, and reflective creative development

  • Supporting writers from early idea stage through to completed manuscripts, publication planning, and book launch preparation

  • Helping authors connect with appropriate professional support where needed, including editing, design, publishing, marketing, or promotional services

  • Experience of arranging book signing opportunities, author events, promotional activities, and community-based literary connections

  • Group facilitation, mediation, reflective communication, and bringing people together in supportive, purposeful spaces

  • Writing, publishing, mentoring, and facilitation experience across individual, group, professional, and community settings

  • Ongoing CPD/PD, supervision, safeguarding, and ethical reflection

  • Paula is also a three times published author herself. Of which she taught herself the whole process from start to finish, including engaging professional editors, proof-readers and beta-readers where appropriate. She has a wealth of knowledge in the independent publishing arena, and is available on a consulting/mentoring basis.

  • Experience of writing and targeting magazine, journal and newspapers for relevant magazines, having several published herself.

  • Past experience of providing papers, talks and workshops for corporate sector.
